2018 Inclusion Collaborative Conference

Speakers will be virtually presenting  with Zoom from Georgia to the in-person attendees.

Learn about the findings of the BLKC Education Research Project and the culturally sensitive, community-engaged research methods used.  Working collaboratively with a community leadership group, the Researchers used publicly available information (Santa Clara County Office of Education data) and gathered data from 649 adults and youth to explore and identify barriers to education. Identified barriers include policies that impede or negatively influence African/African ancestry (AA) children and youth in our education system. The research examined ways racism and white supremacy impact the community’s academic success, how African and African Ancestry (AA) students learn, as well as elements of African-centered education. This study also produced a “Call to Action” and feedback about solutions to help African/African ancestry children and youth succeed in Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley).
